The Tower of Babel
For children
After the flood, people decided to build a tall tower up to the sky so everyone would think they were great. But they forgot about God. So God mixed up their words so they couldn't understand each other, and they scattered all over the earth.
For grown-ups
Babel is humanity's attempt to make a name for itself without God. God scatters the nations — and in the next chapter promises to make Abram's name great and bless all nations through him. At Pentecost, the languages are reversed: one gospel heard in every tongue (Acts 2).
