Cain and Abel
For children
Adam and Eve had two sons. Abel brought God his best lamb, and Cain brought some of his crops. God was pleased with Abel's gift, but not Cain's, because Cain's heart was not right. Cain grew angry and hurt his brother. God asked Cain, "Where is your brother?" Sin had grown fast in the world.
For grown-ups
The first worship and the first murder sit side by side. Hebrews says Abel offered by faith (Heb 11:4); Cain's anger shows a heart that wanted God's approval on its own terms. God warns Cain that sin crouches at the door — and still marks him for protection.
