God's Promise to David

2 Samuel 7:1–17

For children

King David wanted to build a house for God. But God said, "I will build a house for you!" God promised that someone from David's family would be King forever. That King is Jesus!

For grown-ups

The Davidic covenant promises an eternal throne to David's son, who will also be God's son. Solomon fulfils it partly; Jesus, 'the Son of David', fulfils it fully (Luke 1:32–33).
