Elijah and the Fire from Heaven

1 Kings 18:20–40

For children

Many people worshipped a false god called Baal. Elijah said, "Let's see who the real God is!" The prophets of Baal shouted all day, but nothing happened. Elijah prayed once, and the LORD sent fire from heaven that burned up everything — even the water! The people cried, "The LORD, He is God!"

For grown-ups

'How long will you limp between two opinions?' Carmel exposes idols as powerless. Elijah's simple prayer stands against the frenzy of the false prophets: the true God answers by fire.
