Elijah Goes Up to Heaven

2 Kings 2:1–14

For children

Elisha followed his teacher Elijah everywhere. Suddenly, a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind! Elisha picked up Elijah's cloak and kept doing God's work.

For grown-ups

Elijah is taken without dying, and his spirit rests on Elisha. Malachi promises Elijah's return; Jesus says John the Baptist was that Elijah (Matt 11:14).
