The Garden and the Fall
For children
God gave Adam and Eve a beautiful garden and told them not to eat from one tree. A sneaky serpent tricked Eve, and she and Adam ate the fruit. Now sin had come into the world, and they hid from God. God was sad and had to send them out of the garden — but He made them clothes, and He promised that one day a child would come to crush the serpent's head.
For grown-ups
The fall explains everything wrong with the world: death, shame, broken relationships, thorns in the ground. Yet before God pronounces the curses He gives the first gospel promise (Gen 3:15) — the seed of the woman will crush the serpent. The garments of skin hint that sin will be covered by a death not our own.
