The Lost Sheep

Luke 15:1–7

For children

A shepherd had one hundred sheep, and one got lost. He left the ninety-nine and searched until he found it. He carried it home on his shoulders and had a party! Jesus said heaven is happy like that when one person turns back to God.

For grown-ups

Jesus answers grumbling Pharisees with three parables of lost things. God is the seeking shepherd (Ezek 34), and the joy of heaven is over repentant sinners.
