The King on a Donkey

Matthew 21:1–11

For children

Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a little donkey. Crowds waved palm branches and laid their coats on the road, shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!"

For grown-ups

Jesus deliberately fulfils Zechariah 9:9: the King comes humble, riding on a donkey. The same crowds will soon shout 'Crucify!'
