Crossing the Red Sea

Exodus 14:1–31

For children

Pharaoh changed his mind and chased God's people with his army. They were trapped at the sea! Moses lifted his staff, and God split the water so they walked through on dry ground. When the Egyptians followed, the water came back down. God's people sang to Him.

For grown-ups

The exodus is the Old Testament's defining act of redemption: God saves His people through judgment. 'The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.' Paul calls the crossing a baptism into Moses (1 Cor 10:2).

Talk about it

When the people were trapped, who fought for them?
