The Wise and Foolish Builders

Matthew 7:24–27

For children

Jesus told a story about two men. One built his house on rock, and one on sand. When the storm came, the house on sand fell down with a crash, but the house on the rock stood strong. Jesus said, "Whoever hears my words and does them is like the wise man."

For grown-ups

The Sermon on the Mount ends with a warning: hearing without doing is building on sand. The rock is Christ and His word received in faith that works by love.
