Solomon Asks for Wisdom

1 Kings 3:1–28

For children

God told young King Solomon, "Ask for whatever you want." Solomon didn't ask for money or a long life. He asked for wisdom to lead God's people well. God was pleased and gave him wisdom — and riches too!

For grown-ups

Solomon's request models prayer that seeks God's purposes first (Matt 6:33). Yet even the wisest king fell into idolatry later; 'something greater than Solomon is here' (Matt 12:42).
