The Ten Commandments

Exodus 20:1–17

For children

God's people camped at Mount Sinai. There was thunder and smoke, and God spoke His Ten Commandments. He reminded them, "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt." God saved them first, and then He taught them how to live as His people.

For grown-ups

The order matters: redemption comes before law. The commandments are the shape of grateful love to God and neighbour (Matt 22:37–40). They also show us our sin and drive us to Christ (Gal 3:24), and remain the rule of the Christian life.
